Oriana House Inc. in Akron, Ohio, is seeking a Peer Support Specialist to engage individuals in recovery and support transition to wellness plans within various settings including correctional facilities, recovery housing, specialty courts, and outpatient programs.

The role collaborates with clinical teams to reinforce treatment goals, provide recovery education, and connect clients to resources. Full-time benefits and a flexible schedule are included, with starting pay of $17.00–$18.00 per hour.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (required).
• Peer Support Certification (required within 3 months of hire).
• Valid Ohio driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with a diverse client population.

Responsibilities

• Engage individuals in recovery through outreach and ongoing support.
• Build trusted relationships by listening empathetically and offering consistent peer support.
• Support client-directed recovery planning by helping clients transition from professional treatment to individualized wellness plans.
• Provide recovery education and coaching, including information on stages of recovery and coping strategies.
• Connect clients to recovery housing, employment, healthcare, support groups, and 12-step programs.
• Collaborate with treatment providers to reinforce clinical services and encourage sustained recovery through one-on-one and group support.
