Job summary

Telecare is seeking a Peer Recovery Coach for a full-time, on-site role at the Wellness Village Mental Health Rehabilitation Center. You will engage with members to support recovery goals and reinforce RCCS principles in a supportive team environment.

The role requires prior peer certifications, California Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist certification, and relevant behavioral health experience. A valid driver’s license and willingness to use a personal or company vehicle to transport clients

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Peer Certification must be obtained prior to hire and maintained.
• California: Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist Certification required prior to hire and maintained.
• One year or part-time equivalent of experience supporting members with behavioral health challenges.
• Two years’ full-time experience in a mental health program or a bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work or behavioral sciences.
• Experience as a beneficiary of the public Behavioral Health system of care.
• Successful completion of Peer Support Training or Peer Employment Training.
• Valid driver’s license and personal vehicle insurance in your name.
• Willingness to use personal vehicle to drive clients; weekly mileage reimbursement at IRS rate.
• Willingness to use company vehicle to drive clients.

Responsibilities

• Engage and facilitate meaningful conversations to help members reach recovery goals.
• Promote Telecare’s RCCS Recovery Culture and integrate member preferences into services.
• Respond to critical situations with de-escalation skills to maintain a least restrictive environment.

What You Will Do to Change Lives

The Peer Recovery Coach I engages, inspires, and facilitates meaningful conversations with members served that assist the members to explore, create, and meet their own recovery goals. Peer Recovery Coaches provide consultation to the team to promote and reinforce Telecare’s Recovery Culture as defined by the Telecare Recovery Centered Clinical System (RCCS) in which each member’s point of view and preferences are recognized, understood, respected, and integrated into services and self-help programming. Additionally, Peer Recovery Coaches respond to critical situations with high-level engagement and de-escalation skills which support a least restrictive environment for members served experiencing an emergency related to a mental health/addiction challenge.

This as a new startup program with an expected start date of December 14, 2026

7:00am-3:30pm;

3:30pm-11:30pm;

11:30pm-7:30am;

Salary Range: $23.00–$23.70/hr.

Telecare applies geographic differentials to its pay ranges. The pay range assigned to this role will be based on the geographic location from which the role is performed. Starting pay is commensurate with relevant experience above the minimum requirements.

What You Bring to the Table (Must Have)

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Peer Certification must be obtained prior to hire and maintained throughout employment
• California: obtain Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist Certification through CalMHSA prior to hire date and maintained throughout employment.
• One (1) year or part-time equivalent of experience supporting members served with behavioral health challenges
• Two (2) years’ full-time experience, or part-time equivalent, working in a mental health program serving persons with severe and persistent mental disabilities, or a bachelor’s degree with a major in psychology, social work or behavioral sciences
• Experience as a beneficiary of the public Behavioral Health system of care
• Successful completion of Peer Support Training or Peer Employment Training.
• Valid and current driver’s license, and personal vehicle insurance with your name listed as a driver.
• Willingness to use your personal vehicle to drive clients to appointments and groups, etc.(weekly mileage reimbursement at the IRS rate)
• Willingness to use the company vehicle to drive clients to appointments and groups, etc.

Located on the Wellness Village Campus, the Telecare Wellness Village Mental Health Rehabilitation Center (MHRC) operates 24/7 and serves 50 individuals who are Incompetent to Stand Trial (IST) or otherwise court-ordered to this level of care. The program provides up to 50 residential beds for both male and female clients. It primarily serves IST consumers referred by the Superior Court, Riverside Sheriff's Office (RSO), or Riverside University Health System–Behavioral Health (RUHS-BH). The facility also supports individuals requiring residential services through Laura’s Law/AOT and other RUHS-BH and Superior Court diversion programs.
