Job summary

Aroostook Mental Health Services, Inc. (AMHC) in Caribou is seeking a compassionate, recovery-oriented Peer Recovery Coach to provide non-clinical support to individuals pursuing recovery from substance use disorders.

Qualifications

• This position requires a minimum of a High School Diploma or its equivalent.
• Must be in recovery for a minimum of 1 year or have lived recovery experience.
• Reliable transportation is required. Valid driver’s license is preferred.
• Training in the Recovery Coach Academy CCAR Model (Connecticut Community of Addiction Recovery) and CCAR Ethics training is expected; after training, registration with the State of Maine as a registered recovery coach will be required.

Responsibilities

• Provide peer support, education, advocacy, and linkage to community resources.
• Engage individuals in recovery centers, behavioral health settings, hospitals, shelters, and community settings to promote recovery.
• Build trusting, non-judgmental relationships and model recovery skills.
