Job summary

University of Maryland Medical System in Maryland is seeking a Peer Recovery Coach to support patients in recovery from alcohol and drug use. The role works with the Behavioral Health Team in the Emergency Department to provide peer support, motivate treatment, and develop service plans to promote linkage to care.

Job description

Peer Recovery Coach

The Peer Recovery Coach provides non-clinical services intended to support patients in establishing recovery from high risk of alcohol dependence and drug use. The Peer Recovery Coach will work as part of the Behavioral Health Team in the Emergency Department to provide peer support and motivation to encourage patients who are seeking treatment. The Peer Recovery Coach will assist in completing referrals to treatment services and developing service plans to promote successful linkage to treatment. Services will include appropriate follow up.

Work Schedule

Four 10 hours shifts 2p-midnight

Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED is required. The candidate must be actively engaged in his/her own recovery program with a minimum of three years demonstrated person recovery and sustained abstinence from alcohol or drug use.

Skills

• The Peer Recovery Coach must demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to relate to patients and health care professionals, as well as the ability to develop professional working relationships with partner agencies.
• The candidate must possess excellent listening skills, verbal and written communication skills, as well as problem solving skills.
• The candidate must be able to read, interpret, and write routine reports.
• Basic computer skills and the willingness to learn new skills.

Compensation

Pay Range: $17.00 - $22.47
