University of Maryland Medical System is seeking a Peer Recovery Coach to support patients in recovery within the Emergency Department, working with the Behavioral Health Team to encourage treatment entry.
Responsibilities include peer support, facilitating referrals, and developing service plans for successful linkage to care, with follow-up provided as needed. The position requires a high school diploma or GED and active engagement in the individual's own recovery for at least three years.
The Peer Recovery Coach provides non-clinical services intended to support patients in establishing recovery from high risk of alcohol dependance and drug use. The Peer Recovery Coach will work as part of the Behavioral Health Team in the Emergency Department to provide peer support and motivation to encourage patients who are seeking treatment. The Peer Recovery Coach will asst in completing referrals to treatment services and developing service plans to promote successful linkage to treatment. Services will include appropriate follow up.

Education/Experience: High school diploma or GED is required. %The candidate must be actively engaged in his/her own recovery program with a minimum of three years demonstrated person recovery and sustained abstinence from alcohol or drug use.
The Peer Recovery Coach must demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to related to patients and health care professionals, as well as the ability to develop professional working relationships with partner agencies. The candidate must possess excellent listening skills, verbal and written communication skills, as well as problem solving skills. The candidate must be able to read, interpret, and write routine reports. Basic computer skills and the willingness to learn new skills.
Pay Range: $17.00 - $22.47
