Job summary

Trinity Services, Inc. in Joliet, IL seeks a Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) to provide compassionate peer support to individuals in mental health crises.

You will use your lived experience to help build personalized recovery plans, model self-care, and connect people with community resources. You will work with a partner during crisis responses, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and participate in trainings to improve peer support.

Qualifications

• Lived experience as a consumer of mental health or substance use services (required).
• GED or high school diploma (required); additional education a plus.
• CRSS certification or willingness to obtain.
• WRAP certification or willingness to complete training.
• Valid driver’s license and current automobile liability insurance.
• Ability to pass all pre-employment background checks.
• Completed CRSS program and state certificate (required).

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate peer support to individuals in mental health crisis situations.
• Respond to crisis calls with their partner and work as a team.
• Occasionally work alongside law enforcement and other community agencies.
• Collaborate with individuals to develop a personalized recovery plan that ensures safety and comfort.
• Teach and model effective problem-solving techniques and coping strategies.
• Assist participants in identifying strengths, goals, wellness objectives, and barriers.
• Serve as a recovery role model and promote self-care practices.
• Participate in trainings, seminars, and meetings to improve peer support.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to assess high-risk indicators.
• Conduct outreach and help participants connect to community resources.
• Provide follow-up to ensure continuity of care and engagement with services.
• Complete all necessary documentation.
