Job summary

Spectrum Health Systems, Inc. in Lawrence, MA invites applications for a Peer Coordinator in the Peer Recovery Program. The role supports volunteers, coordinates program activities, and provides recovery coaching and case management to participants.

The schedule is Monday–Friday 8:30am–5:00pm with occasional evenings and weekend shifts. A high school diploma, driver’s license, and Recovery Coach Academy training are required or pursued.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• One year of experience in a substance addiction program preferred.
• Bilingual (Spanish & English) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Recruit volunteers for the Recovery Center and provide orientation and training.
• Plan, implement and evaluate program activities with peer volunteers.
• Oversee work performed by peer volunteers.
• Help facilitate volunteer committees.
• Provide recovery coaching to participants.
• Conduct case management for housing, job search, medical services, and social services.
• Coordinate continuing recovery referrals and initial appointments.
• Demonstrate cultural competency with diverse participants and staff.
• Maintain and prepare reports as directed.
• Assist with crisis management as needed.

Peer Coordinator

Location: Lawrence, MA - Peer Recovery Program

Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm but may require some evening (4:00pm - 8:00pm) and weekend Saturday or Sunday (9:00am - 3:00pm) shifts when needed

Pay rate: $17.00-$19.00/hour

Responsibilities

• Recruiting volunteers for the Recovery Center and provide pre-service orientation and training to peer volunteers.
• Working closely with peer volunteers to plan, implement and evaluate program activities.
• Overseeing work performed by peer volunteers.
• Helping facilitate volunteer committees.
• Providing recovery coaching to participants.
• Performing case management activities regarding initial housing, job search, medical services, insurance, social services, education, etc.
• Coordinating continuing recovery referrals including scheduling of initial appointments.
• Demonstrating cultural competency in working with participants, employees, referral agencies and others from diverse ethnicities, cultures and backgrounds.
• Maintaining and preparing reports as directed.
• Assisting with crisis management and other emergencies as needed.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in substance addiction program preferred
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel preferred
• Bilingual (Spanish & English) preferred
• Must have a driver's license & vehicle
• Must attend a full week training (Recovery Coach Academy)
• Must display the use of appropriate independent judgement to determine appropriate course of action in resolving problems and in emergencies
• Must be able to express self adequately in written and oral communication and to communicate effectively in an interdisciplinary, culturally diverse setting
• Weekends and night shift may be required
