Job summary

Duke University is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the Peds Transplant & Cellular Therapy unit in Durham, NC. The role supports pediatric transplant, cell therapy and oncology patients with 1:1 or 1:3 nurse-to-patient ratios and a 36-hour weekly schedule on three 12-hour shifts.

Ideal candidates hold a BSN or higher, with NC state RN licensure or compact license, BLS, and a commitment to family-centered care.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or higher.
• Must enroll in BSN if no BSN within two years and complete within seven years.
• Current NC State Board of Nursing license or compact RN licensure to practice in NC.
• BLS certification required.
• Ability to document assessments, plans of care, interventions and evaluations.
• Ability to educate patients and families in accordance with the nursing plan of care.
• Ability to manage professional relationships with patients, families, visitors, the healthcare team, physicians, administrators, leadership and others.

Responsibilities

• Independently plan, provide, supervise and document professional nursing care using the nursing process per physician orders and policies.
• Use nursing judgment to individualize the plan of care based on patient needs and response to care.
• Deliver nursing services to patients and families per the NC Board of Nursing scope.
• Delegate tasks and supervise other licensed and unlicensed care providers.
• Serve as team leader or charge nurse for a group of patients or unit as assigned.
• Monitor care environment and initiate actions with equipment and resources.
• Maintain competencies and participate in professional development; act as preceptor.
• Participate in performance improvement activities and related duties.
