Pediatrician MD / DO Physician, Chicago, IL

Summary Overview :

The role involves providing comprehensive pediatric care, including diagnosis, treatment, and preventive care, within the scope of the provider's training and licensing. Responsibilities include outpatient clinical care, inpatient pediatric care, teaching and mentoring residents, and participation in quality improvement initiatives. The provider must maintain patient records using an electronic medical record system and adhere to safety, risk management, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities :
  1. Deliver full-spectrum pediatric care in clinics and hospitals.
  2. Prescribe treatments, interpret diagnostic tests, and manage patient records.
  3. Provide inpatient care at affiliated medical centers.
  4. Mentor residents and contribute to teaching programs.
  5. Participate in meetings, policy reviews, and quality improvement efforts.
Requirements :
  • MD or DO degree with pediatric residency completion.
  • Board-certified or eligible in Pediatrics (certification required within 2 years if newly graduated).
  • Unrestricted Illinois medical license and DEA certification.
  • CPR certification (current and active).
Additional Notes :

This role requires physical mobility within clinical sites and occasional shift coverage. The provider should demonstrate strong communication skills and a commitment to maintaining high standards of care and safety.

Electronic Medical Record - Athena. All patient EMR encounters must be closed within 72 business hours.

Malpractice :

Malpractice insurance is provided at NO cost to the provider. This is an occurrence policy with NO tail required.

Retirement Plans :

403(b) plan with salary deferral, match, and profit-sharing; 401(k) with discretionary match of 0.25% up to 4%; profit sharing of 2% after three years of employment (fully vested). The plan is managed by Empower with 35 investment options and financial planning services via Pinnacle Planning Group.

Continuing Medical Education (CME) :

$3,000 plus 5 days annually for all medical and dental providers.

Paid Time Off (PTO) :

Totaling 44 days per year starting December 1, 2024, including 27 days accrued, 1 floater, 3 personal days, and 8 paid holidays. PTO can be carried over into the following year.

Call Schedule :
  • Rotates between pediatrician and MDs' newborn nursery rounding, Monday to Friday, before or after clinic hours.
  • Saturday newborn nursery rounding applies if scheduled.
  • No required attendance at deliveries or during C-sections.
  • No after-hours, night, or evening call; no newborn rounding on Sundays.
  • On holidays, call is covered by residents.

Providers are scheduled for 8.5 patient sessions per week and 1.5 administrative sessions. Patients are scheduled every 15 minutes, with 24-26 patients per day.

Additional Details :

Care for children up to age 19, supported by two medical assistants per provider. Teaching sessions for Family Medicine Residents occur twice weekly for 2nd and 3rd-year residents. Providers work one evening per week, from 11:30 am to 8 pm, and one Saturday every four weeks, from 9 am to 2 pm, with a day off during the week.
