• Upholds Kaiser Permanente's Policies and Procedures and applicable laws.
• Perform patient care functions within scope of competency following established protocols.
• Assist medical personnel with procedures and diagnostic exams.
• Assess and monitor patient condition and notify physician when disposition is needed.
• Prepare and administer medications as directed by physician orders.
• Maintain equipment and supplies and arrange for repairs when needed.
• Apply infection control practices as directed by the Infection Control Manual.
• Monitor patient flow and assist with directing ancillary staff.
• Document patient information and nursing procedures per protocol.
• Explain procedures to patients and provide basic health education.
• Take and record vital signs and collect specimens for tests.
• Perform venipuncture, urine tests and basic laboratory tasks.
• Restrain or support patients during procedures and assist in surgery as needed.
• Respond to emergencies including basic CPR and code blue situations.
