Job summary

UTHealth Houston's Pediatrics High Risk Clinic in Texas Medical Center seeks a Medical Assistant to provide clinical and administrative support for children with complex needs. You will assist with exams, vaccines, basic labs, and care coordination within a multidisciplinary team, applying strong communication skills and attention to family needs.

This full-time role emphasizes patient-centered care, proper room preparation, and efficient scheduling, with a focus on safety and HIPAA compliance.

Qualifications

• Bilingual abilities preferred to enhance patient and family support.
• Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
• BLS certification is required.
• CMA / RMA / NCMA / CCMA or equivalent certification is required or substituted by training.

Responsibilities

• Promotes quality patient care and customer service/satisfaction.
• Prepares for patient visits and ensures test results and requirements are available.
• Rooms patients and documents chief complaint, vitals, allergies, and medication list.
• Performs hearing, vision testing, EKG, spirometry, point-of-care testing, and specimen collection as needed.
• Prepares and stocks rooms and clinic supplies in advance of visits.
• Schedules follow-up appointments or referrals and handles routine clerical duties.
• Maintains privacy and confidentiality per HIPAA guidelines.
