Job summary

MercyOne is seeking a Medical Assistant to support patient care in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. You will perform clinical tasks such as preparing patients, recording vital signs, assisting with procedures, and administering medications under provider supervision.

The role requires completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program and within one year, obtaining CMA/RMA/NCMA or equivalent certification, plus BLS within 3 months.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program (CAAHP/ABHES).
• Must obtain CMA, RMA, NCMA, CMA, CCMA, NRCMA, NPCE MA within one year of hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 3 months of hire.
• Proficient in Windows, email, and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Deliver patient care through preparation, vital sign collection, documentation.
• Administer medications, treatments, and immunizations under provider direction.
• Prepare and organize patient charts; communicate test results and care plan.
• Schedule procedures, labs, x-rays, and surgeries; assist with patient outreach.
• Coordinate physician schedules and insurance pre-certifications; ensure continuity of care.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to policies and ethical guidelines.
• Educate patients and families based on assessed needs and discharge plans.
• Assist in training new colleagues; cross-coverage in clinic areas as needed.
• Document care plans and test results; escalate non-routine issues as needed.
