The Department of Pediatrics at Central Michigan University College of Medicine, located at The Children’s Hospital of Michigan, is recruiting Board Certified Pediatric Cardiac Electrophysiologists for both Director and junior staff positions. These roles involve joining the only Pediatric/Congenital Heart Electrophysiology program in the Detroit metropolitan area. Depending on experience, academic appointments range from Assistant to Full Professor, with salaries commensurate with rank. IBHRE certification is strongly recommended.
The successful candidate must be licensed or licensable to practice in Michigan and will join Detroit’s only full-service Cardiology/Cardiovascular program. Responsibilities include performing invasive and non-invasive cardiac electrophysiology procedures, with some general cardiology duties and teaching responsibilities for fellows, residents, and medical students. There are also opportunities for clinical, translational, and basic science research within this university-based academic program.
The Children’s Hospital of Michigan is a 228-bed facility that includes a 24-bed dedicated Cardiac ICU, a 37-bed Level IV NICU, and a 36-bed PICU. It is the teaching hospital for Central Michigan University, Wayne State University, and Michigan State University College of Medicine, training more pediatricians than any other Michigan facility. The hospital performs invasive EP procedures in renovated Siemens biplane hybrid catheterization labs equipped with St Jude Claris, EnSite, and Boston Scientific Maestro mapping/ablation systems, performing over 120 procedures annually. Telemetric monitoring supports remote cardiac device assessments for over 350 patients under the guidance of a dedicated Pediatric EP Nurse Practitioner. The program collaborates closely with Internal Medicine Cardiac Electrophysiology Associates at the DMC Heart Hospital.
The Division of Cardiology offers Echocardiography and Interventional Catheterization services, a comprehensive cardiopulmonary exercise physiology lab, and specialized clinics in arrhythmias, adult congenital heart disease, heart failure, transplants, lipid management, pulmonary hypertension, and fetal cardiology. The Pediatric Cardiology Fellowship Program boasts a 100% job placement rate.
