Pediatrician with Child Abuse Specialization

Join a leading hospital's Child Protection Program in Philadelphia, PA as a Pediatrician specialized in child abuse. The program is dedicated to conducting detailed medical evaluations for suspected victims of child abuse, including physical, sexual abuse, and neglect. The successful candidate will become a part of an established team consisting of expert child abuse pediatricians, along with dedicated support from social workers, nurses, and additional staff, aimed at providing crucial care within both inpatient and outpatient settings and at the city’s regional Child Advocacy Center. This role includes collaboration with local authorities to ensure timely communication and intervention, as well as obligations towards educational outreach within the community and medical training campuses. Salary: $220,000.00 - $240,000.00 per year

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive medical evaluations for suspected victims of child abuse and neglect.
  • Collaborate closely with local law enforcement and child protective services to communicate findings in a timely manner.
  • Participate in both inpatient and outpatient care settings, as well as at the local Child Advocacy Center.
  • Engage in educational initiatives including teaching medical students, residents, and fellows at Drexel University College of Medicine.
  • Contribute to program development initiatives to enhance the delivery of care and service outcomes.
  • Provide mentorship and supervision to junior staff within the Child Protection Program.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • Board Certified/Eligible in Child Abuse Pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics.
  • Board Certified in General Pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics.
  • Completion of an accredited Pediatric residency.
  • Completion of an accredited Child Abuse Pediatric Fellowship.
  • Hold an unrestricted PA medical license at the time of employment.
  • Eligible to obtain/maintain DEA certification in the Commonwealth of PA.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a child advocacy or protection setting.
  • Demonstrated involvement in clinical research related to child health and child abuse.
  • Strong communication skills for effective advocacy and education.
  • Proven track record of program development in a healthcare setting.
  • Prior academic appointment or readiness to engage academically at the university level.
