RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Full-Time Pediatrician specializing in Child Abuse for employment in Newark, New Jersey.

RWJBarnabas Health, the largest integrated healthcare system in New Jersey, and the Metropolitan Regional Diagnostic and Treatment Center in Newark, NJ, are seeking a BC/BE full-time Pediatrician specializing in Child Abuse. This opportunity allows you to join a busy, well-established practice and collaborate with experienced pediatricians. The ideal candidate will conduct patient consultations, comprehensive medical evaluations, provide teaching sessions to pediatric staff and medical students, and have a passion for education and research in child maltreatment. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious physician to gain experience and guidance in a high-volume practice and contribute to expanding services in northern New Jersey.

Requirements:
  • BC/BE in Pediatrics
  • Experience in Child Abuse and Maltreatment & General Pediatrics
  • NJ licensed or eligible for licensure in NJ
Responsibilities:
  • Conduct medical evaluations and chart reviews for child victims of physical abuse, sexual abuse, and neglect.
  • Perform in-hospital consultations, including visits with child victims.
  • Participate in ongoing education and research initiatives.
  • Provide teaching through didactic sessions to pediatric house staff, medical students, mental health clinicians, social workers, and law enforcement, as opportunities arise.

The Metro RDTC in Newark is one of New Jersey’s four state-designated multidisciplinary centers for evaluating and treating abused and neglected children. We primarily serve children and families in Essex County. Our team of physicians, social workers, and psychologists are experts in child maltreatment, providing compassionate medical and psychosocial services for suspected victims of all types of abuse and neglect, including physical, sexual, emotional abuse, and trauma.

We work closely with the Division of Child Protection and Permanency (DCP&P), county prosecutor’s offices, the Office of the Public Defender, hospitals, physicians, courts, community groups, and organizations dedicated to restoring the health and well-being of abused and neglected children across New Jersey.
