Summary

The Medical Assistant is responsible for supporting departmental functions aligned with the mission, vision, and goals of PM Pediatrics. This role involves applying pediatric medical skills in an urgent care setting, assisting with primary patient care under physician supervision, and maintaining positive relationships with patients, families, staff, and vendors.

Description
Job Responsibilities:
  • Provide clinical and administrative support to providers, patients, and the office team.
  • Greet and register patients upon arrival.
  • Obtain medical histories, vital signs, and perform intake procedures.
  • Prepare patients for X-rays and assist with routine labs, including throat and urine cultures (venipuncture experience preferred).
  • Irrigate wounds and assist with wound care.
  • Perform quality control testing in the lab.
  • Contribute to patient care within scope of practice and support the healthcare team.
  • Ensure exam rooms and front desk are stocked and organized.
  • Maintain cleanliness and order in waiting and exam areas.
  • Follow safety protocols and respond to medical emergencies appropriately.
  • Adhere to policies and report any operational issues.
  • Protect patient confidentiality and sensitive information.
  • Take ownership of tasks and seek opportunities to improve and add value.
  • Assist patients with complaints and participate in service recovery when needed.
  • Perform additional duties such as applying splints and supporting other medical procedures.
  • Provide exceptional customer service.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Previous experience or education as a Medical Assistant.
  • Knowledge of EKG placement and processing in children.
  • Ability to perform nasal swabs and venipuncture.
  • Professional, friendly demeanor and strong communication skills.
  • Organizational skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office; willingness to learn medical software.
  • Experience with medical records is a plus.
Compensation:

$17 - $27/hour. Salary ranges may vary based on experience and location. We evaluate each candidate individually to determine appropriate compensation.
