Summary

The Medical Assistant is responsible for all departmental functions aligned with the mission, vision, and goals of PM Pediatrics. The role offers an opportunity for a pediatric medical assistant to apply their skills in a pediatric urgent care setting, assisting with primary patient care within their scope of practice under the physician’s supervision. This position requires maintaining effective relationships with patients, families, physicians, staff, volunteers, and vendors.

Description

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical and administrative support for providers, patients, and office operations
  • Greet and register patients upon arrival
  • Obtain medical history, vital signs, and initial assessments
  • Prepare patients for X-rays
  • Perform and document routine labs (throat and urine cultures, venipuncture experience preferred)
  • Irrigate and assist with wound care
  • Assist in quality control testing in the lab
  • Be an active part of the patient care team, assisting within scope of practice
  • Stock exam rooms and front desk with supplies
  • Maintain cleanliness and order in the waiting area
  • Follow safety practices and precautions
  • Respond to emergencies and notify medical team as needed
  • Follow policies and report changes to management
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and protect operations
  • Contribute to the practice's reputation by taking ownership and exploring value-added opportunities
  • Assist patients with complaints and participate in service recovery
  • Perform additional duties such as applying splints and assisting with medical procedures
  • Provide exceptional customer service
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Experience or education as a Medical Assistant
  • Knowledge of EKG placement and processing in children
  • Ability to perform nasal swabs and venipuncture
  • Professional, friendly demeanor
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Pediatric experience preferred
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office
  • Willingness to learn medical software
  • Experience with medical records is a plus
Compensation

$17 - $27/hour. Salary may vary based on experience and location. We evaluate each candidate individually.
