Job summary

PM Pediatrics is seeking a licensed practical or vocational nurse (LPN/LVN) to support pediatric urgent care providers and office operations. You will obtain histories, vitals, and help with procedures under physician supervision, while staying current on pediatric pharmacology and safety standards.

The role emphasizes rapid assessment, compassionate patient care, and teamwork within a fast-paced clinical setting.

Qualifications

• Pediatric experience is required; Pediatric ER, Pediatric hospital unit, or Pediatrics Urgent Care Experience preferred.
• Active state nursing license or active compact state licensure from the state you reside
• Prior experience and competency with nursing procedures (IV placement, urinary straight catheterization, and medication administration)
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) is required, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) recommended
• Knowledge of medical practice and terminology, clinic's processes, and procedures
• Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments
• Skill in rapid assessment of the critical presentation of the pediatric population
• Ability to use sound reasoning and judgment and act calm in emergencies
• Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and nonverbally

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical and administrative support for providers, patients, and office operations
• Obtain medical history, patient vital signs, intake, and prioritize patient care
• Perform procedures (venipuncture, IV insertion, urinary straight catheterization), administer medications (oral, rectal, IM, and IV), and assist the physician with total patient care within the scope of practice
• Remain knowledgeable in pediatric pharmacology
• Be an integral part of the patient care team and assist with patient care within the scope of practice
• Perform monthly quality control checks in the office
• Assist in performing quality control testing in the lab
• Assist the physician with patient care, positioning, and comfort during the x-ray process
• Keep exam rooms stocked with supplies, maintain instruments, and sterilization tools
• Practice standard safety practices and precautions
• Help patients in distress by notifying the physician
• Establish rapport with clients, families, employees, and physicians
• Maintain operations by following policies and reporting changes to management
• Contribute to team efforts and outcomes
• Maintain a safe, confidential environment per HIPAA
