Job summary

Children's Wisconsin - Surgicenter is seeking a Surgical Assistant to support the perioperative team across a range of pediatric outpatient procedures. You will work under a physician's guidance, assisting with exposure and hemostasis to help achieve safe operations.

Must have accredited surgical technologist training and current BLS CPR; First Assistant credential preferred. Hours: 7am–3:30pm or 8am–4:30pm, with no weekends or holidays.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited surgical technologist program is required.
• Completion of an accredited surgical assistant program or 3+ years of experience as a surgical assistant after workplace training required.
• Certified First Assistant credential preferred.
• Current CPR certification - BLS for Healthcare Providers required.
• CST-Certified Surgical Technologist (TS-C) credential referenced.

Responsibilities

• Report to the Perioperative Manager; assist in all aspects of assigned surgical procedures under physician guidance.
• Aid in exposure, hemostasis and other technical functions to help the surgeon carry out a safe operation.
• Role will vary with operation and specialty area.
• Prepare for surgical procedures and assist the entire surgical team.
• Assist with orientation of new personnel in scrubbing and assisting role.
• Also assume duties of a surgical technologist as assigned.
• Hours: 7am-3:30pm or 8am-4:30pm; no weekends or holidays.
