Job summary

University of Mississippi Medical Center seeks a Nurse Practitioner-Surgery to provide patient care in a pediatric-focused setting on the Main Campus in Jackson. You will assess, diagnose, plan and implement patient care in collaboration with physicians and in compliance with state and federal guidelines.

Graduate NP with national certification (PNP or FNP) and a Mississippi APRN license or eligibility is required. The role involves teaching, mentorship, and high standards of patient service.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved Nurse Practitioner program and hold national certification as a Pediatric or Family NP.
• Mississippi APRN license or eligible for Mississippi APRN license. Must have national certification as PNP (pediatric) or FNP (family).
• Knowledge of APRN procedures and protocols; strong communication and collaboration with physicians.

Responsibilities

• Completes health assessments in a pediatric area (patient histories and physical exams).
• Orders, collects, and interprets relevant laboratory and other diagnostic tests.
• Formulates and implements comprehensive patient care plans in a pediatric area based on patient assessments.
• Plans include education, prescriptions, additional lab and diagnostic testing, and therapies.
• Ensures complete documentation of patient assessments and care provided.
• Coaches and mentors other nurse practitioners.
• Functions as expert/resource to nursing staff in the pediatric area.
• Serves on nursing committees or project teams to improve patient care.
