Job Title & Specialty Area: Speech Language Pathologist PRN
Department: Acute Care Therapy Services
Location: Children’s Medical Center Dallas- 1935 Medical District Dr, Dallas, TX 75235
Shift: Primarily weekend coverage needed; Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays; 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM; Plus one day during the week for training
Job Type: On-Site
PRN Flat Rate: $60.00
Additional Information: This PRN opportunity is to cover periodic therapist time off or short term staffing needs. Must be available and agree to cover a minimum of 6 shifts per quarter; 2 major holiday and 2 minor holiday availability required.

Summary
This job is for PRN assignments only. The incumbent in this position is a staff therapist who participates in the evaluation and treatment of patients based upon current principles and practices of Speech Language Pathology. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and Children's Health philosophy, policies, procedures and standards.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct Speech Language Pathology evaluations and re-evaluations, including assessment of prior and current level of function, setting individualized goals and making discharge recommendations in accordance with standards of practice; provide direct Speech Language Pathology treatments according to standards of practice, including patient and family education, progression of treatment plan and implementation of appropriate therapeutic interventions; report of patient progress through appropriate written documentation including evaluation forms, progress notes, education forms; collaborate with physicians, patients, family and other members of the health care team relative to patient treatment and progress as well as other affiliated agencies with regard to effective discharge planning.
- Coordinate and prioritize own schedule in relation to demands of patient treatment and other departmental responsibilities.
- Demonstrate proper use and maintenance of department equipment and supplies; attend and participate in departmental meetings, in services, rounds and peer reviews; participate in program development as assigned by Team Leader; participate in continuing education programs or other opportunities for learning continued professional competency.

How You’ll Be Successful
WORK EXPERIENCE
- At least 2 years Job-related experience preferred
- Pediatric acute care experience preferred
- Infant feeding skills preferred
- Acute care experience within a hospital setting preferred
EDUCATION
- Graduate or professional work or advanced degree; or equivalent experience required
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
- License to practice Speech Language in the state of Texas required
- Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from ASHA required
- Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR/BLS Certification upon hire required
- PPMAB - Pediatric Prevention and Management of Aggressive Behaviors (In-Patient only) within 60 days, required
