Description

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
This position is responsible for providing direct therapeutic services to children for acquisition and mastery of functional skills in order to reduce or overcome limitations resulting from disabilities or developmental delays. This position evaluates, assesses, develops, and carries out treatment plans, documents progress and required processes, educates families and community partners and collaborates with physicians and other care providers. Services are clinic-based in both individual and group settings.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
This position requires face to face interactions with co-workers, families, children, and the general public on a daily basis
to accomplish all essential functions of the position.

  • Provides direct therapy services, in accordance with the treatment plan, to children with disabilities ordevelopmental delays by providing hands on therapy and providing families and caregivers appropriatestrategies which help the child participate in their community. Services may be provided in individual or groupsettings with up to 4 children as determined appropriate by the therapist. Therapist is responsible for providingtotal number of authorized visits or units during the authorization period including makeup of missed visits. Thetherapist documents all services within the required timelines and in compliance with documentation standardsset by the agency, Medicaid and private insurance rules and regulations. (65%)
  • Evaluates the patient to determine appropriate therapy plan. Accurately scores standardized tests andmeasures, and shares results appropriately. Determines appropriate plan of care in accordance and withintimelines defined by Medicaid and/or Private Insurance and program policies and procedures. Evaluation mustestablish a client with a disability and/or developmental delay meets the medical necessity criteria for ongoingtherapy services. Submits all evaluation documentation including evaluation tool to the appropriate personnelin accordance with program deadlines. Documents all services provided in compliance with program andinsurance rules and regulations and submits documentation of services for billing purposes daily. (15%)
  • This position, within licensure and regulation standards, develops the treatment plan based on the results of theevaluation/assessment ensuring the goals of the requested services to be provided are directed at improving,adapting, restoring, or maintaining functions which have been lost or impaired due to a recent illness, injury,loss of body part or congenital abnormality or as a result of developmental delay or the presence of a chronicmedical condition. Treatment plans or plans of care (POC) must include interventions and short- and long-termgoals and measurable outcomes. For children in group therapy settings, each individual child must have anindividualized treatment plan and prescription for group therapy in addition to other required elements basedon insurance regulations. Upon initiation of therapy and throughout the episode of care, therapist must provideeducation and training of the client’s caregivers by developing and instructing them in a home treatmentprogram to promote effective carryover of the therapy program and management of safety issues. Documentsall services within the required timelines and in compliance with documentation standards set by the agency,Medicaid and private insurance rules and regulations. (15%)

OTHER FUNCTIONS

  • Participate in monthly team meetings, discipline, agency, and staffing meetings to ensure family and childoutcomes are met and required information is secured. (4%)
  • Other duties to support the delivery and quality of services that are provided to Brighton families. (1%)
Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Required: Degreed and current Texas Licensure in physical therapy.Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access as well as Adobe.
  • Preferred: Prior experience in ECI, Special Education, Early Childhood Education, or a family-centered service organization. Bilingual in Spanish.
