Job summary

Mid-Island Y JCC is hiring a Physical Therapist for a school-based program serving preschool children in a new center setting. The role focuses on fostering development, coordinating with families, and implementing individualized plans to improve gross motor skills.

The ideal candidate has pediatric therapy experience, strong behavior management skills, and NY licensure. This is an in-person, full-time position with typical daytime hours and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• A Physical Therapist passionate about fostering children's development.
• Experience providing school-based therapy for preschool children in a special education setting.
• Strong knowledge of behavior management techniques and strategies.

Responsibilities

• Conduct developmental screenings and assessments to determine physical therapy needs.
• Develop and implement individualized therapy plans to enhance gross motor skills and participation in educational activities.
• Ensure services are prescribed with up-to-date physician prescription or authorization as required by 4410 rules.
• Focus on gross motor functioning, strength, balance, mobility and independence.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team and families to align interventions with goals.
• Provide consultation and coaching to staff and caregivers to support skill generalization.
• Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to goals and planning.
• Maintain accurate documentation per NY State regulations and HIPAA compliance.
