Plans, coordinates and provides for optimum patient care on the unit. Performs professional nursing services for patients with a variety of needs utilizing the nursing process and within the scope, ethics, and standards of practice as defined by the American Nurses Association and the California BRN Nurse Practice Act. **Key Responsibilities:*** Delivers a high level of care through the utilization of scientific knowledge and professional judgment when assessing, intervening and reassessing a patient’s physiological and psychosocial needs.* Establishes an individualized, comprehensive and measurable plan of care based upon knowledge of growth and development, pathophysiology, surgical interventions, psychosocial needs, physician prescribed therapies, and standards of care.* Performs nursing skills safely, accurately, and efficiently, as defined in SHCNC Policies & Procedures and in accordance with Evidenced Based Practice and within the scope of licensure.* Demonstrates open, accurate and timely communication with team members, patients and families, interdisciplinary team members, and between departments to ensure effective therapeutic interventions.* Maintains competency, adheres to standards of practice, and recognizes own learning needs to maximize professional development and optimal nursing practice.* Ensures patient care is delivered and the unit is maintained in accordance with professional regulatory standards and SHC policy.* Applies excellent communication and teamwork skills to maintain successful working relationships with team members.
