Job Summary and Qualifications
The Pediatric Respiratory Therapist coordinates and delivers high-quality, patient-centered respiratory care in accordance with department requirements, standards of practice, and applicable state regulations. Performs diagnostic tests, therapeutic procedures, and monitors patients receiving invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation.
What you will do in this role:
Perform and document patient assessments, including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure. Conduct diagnostic procedures to evaluate respiratory needs and responses.
Administer respiratory therapies, including oxygen delivery, aerosol medication, and chest physiotherapy.
Assist with artificial airway placement, initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilation.
Monitor patient responses, notify providers, and intervene as needed.
Assist with transportation of ventilator-dependent patients.
Respond to emergent patient situations, ensuring airway integrity and ventilation during resuscitation.
What qualifications you will need:
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date.
Associate Degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field.
State Registered Respiratory Therapist, Licensed Certified Respiratory Therapist (LCRT), or RRT/Respiratory Care Practitioner (RRT/RCP).
