The role requires completing an accredited Respiratory Care program, current RRT licensure, and ongoing certs (BLS, NRP/PALS/ACLS). The unit emphasizes infection control and collaboration across the care team.

Qualifications

• Associate degree from an accredited Respiratory Care program.
• RRT certification required and licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.
• BLS; CPR-related credentials must be maintained per unit policy.
• NRP, PALS, ACLS or equivalent certifications must be kept as required by the work unit.

Responsibilities

• Perform respiratory therapy procedures in general and critical care settings per physician orders and policy.
• Initiate and manage invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation.
• Manage airways and related equipment.
• Obtain and analyze blood gases; report results.
• Document procedures and code charges; educate patients and families.
