Job summary

MemorialCare Health System is seeking a Pediatric Respiratory Care Practitioner III for the Transport Team at Miller Children’s Hospital in Long Beach. The role supports nocturnal patient transport with expert cardiopulmonary care, critical thinking, and leadership within an interdisciplinary team.

The position requires 3+ years of acute care experience, CA RCP licensure, and advanced credentials. A $2,500 signing bonus is available to external hires, contingent on requirements.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of acute care experience in Critical Care required.
• Graduate of an AMA accredited School for Respiratory Care or equivalent.
• Bachelor’s degree in health related field preferred.
• Current CA RCP license.
• NRP (specialty area only; required in NICU).
• PALS, NRP (specialty area only; required in Pediatrics).
• At least two advanced credentials: NPS, ACCS, RPFT, Certified Asthma Educator, COPD Educator, NPT.
• RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) required for all new hires after January 1, 2014.

Responsibilities

• Provides expert patient care in emergent and non-emergent situations by administering medication and performing therapeutic/diagnostic interventions.
• Serves as a clinical resource to other respiratory care practitioners and the interdisciplinary team.
• Performs accurate documentation and contributes to billing in the medical record.
• Develops and implements teaching plans for patients and families.
• Leads and precepts staff as needed and participates in ongoing quality improvement.
