Job summary

The Children’s Home of Pittsburgh is seeking a Part-Time Registered Nurse for our Pediatric Specialty Hospital. This role includes a minimum of 40 hours per pay period with two weekend shifts every 6 weeks, and supports a 1:3 nurse-to-patient ratio to deliver developmentally appropriate and high-quality care.

Required are PA RN licensure and CPR certification, with at least two years in neonatal/pediatric nursing or equivalent.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Two years of neonatal/pediatric nursing experience preferred.
• Current PA RN license is required.
• Current CPR certification.
• Ability to assess and plan patient care using the nursing process.

Responsibilities

• Provide developmentally appropriate, high-quality nursing care.
• Utilize nursing process to ensure safety and comfort of patients and families.
• Collaborate with healthcare team to implement care plans.
• Manage patient care during shifts, including weekend coverage as scheduled.

Description The Children's Home of Pittsburgh is seeking Part-Time Registered Nurses for our Pediatric Specialty Hospital. This position works a minimum of 40 hours per pay period (two weeks) with two weekend shifts per 6-week schedule. Our Pediatric Specialty Hospital offers a 1:3 nurse to patient ratio. RNs provide competent, developmentally appropriate, professional, and quality nursing care by applying clinical nursing knowledge and skills, utilizing the nursing process and assuring the safety and comfort of patients and families according to legal, institutional and professional standards.

Requirements

• Level of knowledge equivalent to that ordinarily acquired through the completion of an accredited school of nursing.
• Minimum of two years of experience in order to have (a) acquired a thorough knowledge of the scientific principles of nursing (b) acquired a thorough knowledge of professional nursing standards; (c) developed skill in neonatal and/or pediatric nursing techniques and the ability to adapt techniques based on individual needs; and (d) become familiar with hospital policies, procedures and standards.
• Current licensure to practice nursing in the state of Pennsylvania.
• Current CPR certification.
• Analytical ability necessary to assess and evaluate the patients' condition and utilize the nursing process and professional judgment in planning and providing comprehensive care to patients. Ability to integrate patient related data from various sources into the plan of care and appraisal of condition.
• Interpersonal and communication skills necessary to communicate with patients, family members, medical staff, and families in sensitive situations. Ability to work cooperatively within the framework of the nursing team.
• Physical ability necessary for constant standing, walking, and lifting 10 to 50 lbs. A high level of stamina also necessary for the frequent lifting and moving of patients and the carrying of supplies and equipment.
• Emotional/mental ability to perform effectively and efficiently under the daily pressure of stressful or emergency situations.
