Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina is seeking a Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist to perform high-quality radiographic examinations in a busy clinical setting. The role supports physician orders, ensures accurate imaging, and adheres to safety and regulatory standards across diverse radiology services at MUSC.

The position requires ARRT registration, SC licensure, and current BLS certification, with on-site duties and weekend shifts.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited radiologic technology program.
• ARRT registration is required.
• Licensure from the SC Radiation Quality Standards Association is required.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Responsibilities

• Performs high-quality diagnostic radiographic examinations according to physician orders and established protocols.
• Ensures diagnostic images are obtained accurately and efficiently for physician interpretation.
• Prepares and administers contrast agents as directed and under physician supervision.
• Verifies patient identification and orders prior to procedures.
• Positions patients and operates radiographic equipment safely and effectively.
• Maintains patient safety, comfort, and privacy during examinations.
• Reviews images for quality and completeness and adds images as needed.
• Follows radiation safety practices and regulatory standards.
• Documents examinations in electronic systems and maintains equipment and work areas.

As a Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist at MUSC, you have access to state-of-the-art imaging equipment to capture detailed X-ray images, assisting in the diagnosis and treatment planning for a wide range of medical conditions across 16 community hospitals including 3 level 1 trauma centers and many unique outpatient clinics across South Carolina. Compensation & Incentives

• Sign-on bonus: $10,000

• Relocation assistance: Up to $5,000 for eligible candidates

• Shift Differentials: up to $3.80 per hr (depending on shift)

• Additional pay: (call pay, overtime etc.)

Shift Details:

• Schedule: Weekend Days

• Hours: Fri-Sun, 7:00AM-7:30PM

• Holiday expectations:Rotating Schedule

• Performs high-quality diagnostic radiographic examinations according to physician orders and established protocols.

• Ensures diagnostic images are obtained accurately and efficiently for physician interpretation.

• Prepares and administers contrast agents as directed and under the supervision of a physician.

• Verifies patient identification, examination orders, and relevant clinical information prior to procedures.

• Positions patients appropriately and operates radiographic equipment safely and effectively.

• Maintains patient safety, comfort, and privacy throughout examinations.

• Reviews images for quality and completeness and obtains additional images when necessary.

• Follows radiation safety practices and applicable departmental and regulatory standards.

• Documents examinations and patient information accurately in the appropriate electronic systems.

• Maintains equipment and work areas in accordance with department standards and infection prevention protocols.

Additional Job Description

Required License Certification and Registration:

Education: Graduation from an accredited school of radiologic technology.

Experience: 0 to 2 years of modality specific work experience.

Required Registration/Certification:

• Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)

• Licensure from the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association is required.

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHArecognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
