Job summary

The Medical University of South Carolina is seeking a Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist to operate state-of-the-art imaging equipment, capturing high-quality X-ray images to aid diagnosis. Join a diverse team serving 16 community hospitals and multiple clinics across South Carolina.

Responsibilities include performing radiographic exams, ensuring safety, and adhering to protocols. Candidates must be ARRT registered or obtain within 6 months, SC license, and BLS.

Qualifications

  • Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or obtain registry within 6 months of hire.
  • Licensure from the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association is required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required (AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers or Red Cross CPR/AED).

Responsibilities

  • Performs high-quality diagnostic radiographic examinations according to physician orders and established protocols.
  • Ensures diagnostic images are obtained accurately and efficiently for physician interpretation.
  • Prepares and administers contrast agents as directed under physician supervision.
  • Verifies patient identification and orders prior to procedures.
  • Positions patients and operates radiographic equipment safely and effectively.
  • Maintains patient safety, comfort, and privacy during examinations.
  • Reviews images for quality and completeness and obtains additional images when necessary.
  • Follows radiation safety practices and departmental standards.
  • Documents examinations and patient information in electronic systems.

As a Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist at MUSC, you have access to state-of-the-art imaging equipment to capture detailed X-ray images, assisting in the diagnosis and treatment planning for a wide range of medical conditions across 16 community hospitals including 3 level 1 trauma centers and many unique outpatient clinics across South Carolina. Job Description

Compensation & Incentives

  • Sign-on bonus: $10,000
  • Relocation assistance: Up to $5,000 for eligible candidates
  • Shift Differentials: up to $3.80 per hr (depending on shift)
  • Additional pay: (call pay, overtime etc.)

Shift Details:

  • Schedule: Days/Weekend Days
  • Hours: Fri - M/F(230p-11p), & Every Other Sat-Sun(1130a-7p)
  • Holiday expectations:Rotating Schedule

Responsibilities

  • Performs high-quality diagnostic radiographic examinations according to physician orders and established protocols.
  • Ensures diagnostic images are obtained accurately and efficiently for physician interpretation.
  • Prepares and administers contrast agents as directed and under the supervision of a physician.
  • Verifies patient identification, examination orders, and relevant clinical information prior to procedures.
  • Positions patients appropriately and operates radiographic equipment safely and effectively.
  • Maintains patient safety, comfort, and privacy throughout examinations.
  • Reviews images for quality and completeness and obtains additional images when necessary.
  • Follows radiation safety practices and applicable departmental and regulatory standards.
  • Documents examinations and patient information accurately in the appropriate electronic systems.
  • Maintains equipment and work areas in accordance with department standards and infection prevention protocols.

Required License Certification and Registration:

  • Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), If not registered must obtain the registry within 6 months of hire.
  • Licensure from the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association is required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.

Education:

Graduation from an accredited school of radiologic technology.


Experience:

0 to 2 years of modality specific work experience.
