Job summary

Duke University Health System's Children’s Health Center – Special Procedures is seeking a Clinical Nurse II to deliver professional nursing care to pediatric patients undergoing procedures with general anesthesia. The role includes planning, supervision, documentation, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team in a busy clinical unit.

Qualifications

• Graduation from accredited BSN, ADN, or Nursing Diploma program.
• RNs without a BSN must enroll in BSN within two years and complete within five years.
• Current NC Board of Nursing RN licensure or compact license.
• BLS Certification required.
• Ability to multitask, document assessments, and plan/evaluate patient care.
• Ability to educate patients and families and collaborate with healthcare team.

Responsibilities

• As a Clinical Nurse II, plan and provide professional nursing care according to plans and policies.
• Plan, provide, supervise and document nursing care using the nursing process and physician orders.
• Delegate tasks and supervise other licensed and unlicensed care providers.
• Assist other nursing personnel and act as team leader or charge nurse as assigned.
• Monitor and maintain the environment of care, equipment, and resources.
• Participate in professional development and support staff and learners as preceptor.
• Engage in performance improvement opportunities and initiatives.
• Perform other related duties incidental to the work.
