Job summary

Dorsey College in Michigan is seeking a Pediatric Instructor for the Practical Nurse program. The role requires pediatric nursing expertise, a master’s degree in nursing, and active MBON compliance.

The instructor will lead lectures, labs, and clinicals, guide students on grades and attendance, and support program goals. Strong communication, organization, and ability to manage multiple tasks are essential.

Qualifications

• Current, unencumbered Michigan RN license with Pediatrics experience.
• Pediatric unit background or NP experience preferred.
• Master’s degree in nursing science required; BSN preferred.
• Enrollment in BSN program and MBON paperwork submitted prior to teaching.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and deliver classroom instruction in lecture, clinical, and lab formats using approved materials.
• Assess student learning and retention outcomes.
• Conduct engaging lectures and labs and involve students actively.
• Advise students on attendance, grades, and module progress.
• Notify absentee students by text/email/phone to improve retention.
• Maintain classroom environment in line with campus policies.
• Prepare instructor information on whiteboard before class.
• Ensure supplies and equipment are ready and request maintenance when needed.
• Attend faculty and committee meetings; participation in in-services encouraged.
