Job summary

UNM Hospital in Albuquerque is seeking a Child Life professional to coordinate therapeutic and recreational programs for pediatric patients across age groups, including neonates and elders. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • 1 year directly related experience.
  • CPR for Healthcare/BLS Prov or Prof Rescuers w/in 30 days.
  • Related Discipline preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the therapeutic and recreational therapy programs for pediatric patients.
  • Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Patient care assignment may include: Neonate, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric age groups.
  • Organize developmentally appropriate educational and recreational activities for patients; ensure their personal safety and meet physical, cognitive and emotional needs.
  • Provide direction of playroom sessions to meet the social and emotional needs of patients while ensuring safety.
  • Interact with other hospital professionals to promote the well-being of pediatric patients; supervise playroom staff and volunteers.
  • Document program activities in assigned areas and during clinic sessions; provide orientation to volunteers and student staff.
  • Promote ongoing growth and development for children and their families; participate in education and meetings as directed.
  • Follow patient safety policies and report and address safety concerns promptly.
