Job summary

Saint Peter’s Health Care System is seeking a Pediatric Physical Therapist Per Diem to support pediatric patients in our therapy department. This role emphasizes evaluation, developing a plan of care, and delivering therapeutic interventions for patients from neonates to adolescents, with strong emphasis on family education.

The candidate should hold a DPT or CAPTE-accredited degree, maintain BLS, and have or qualify for New Jersey licensure; prior pediatric rehabilitation experience is

Qualifications

  • Requires CAPTE-accredited PT degree (DPT preferred).
  • Current New Jersey license and registration in Physical Therapy or eligibility.
  • Previous experience in Pediatric Rehabilitation preferred.
  • Analytical ability with good interpersonal/communication skills.
  • NDT certification preferred but not required.
  • BLS Certification required by American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and assess pediatric patients using objective tests and clinical observations across Neonates, Pediatrics, Adolescents.
  • Develop plan of care and expected outcomes per physician order or prescription.
  • Implement treatment plans with therapeutic exercises, positioning, gait training, education for patients/parents, and adaptive equipment as needed.
  • Document initial assessments, reassessments, progress notes, and discharge summaries per policy.
  • Ensure treatments align with standards and maintain competency in required procedures and equipment.

Pediatric Physical Therapist Per Diem
Pediatric Therapy

The Pediatric Physical Therapist Per Diem will:

  • Evaluate and assess each patient utilizing various objective tests and measurements and clinical observations as appropriate to the ages of the patients growth and development through the life cycle factors (Neonates, Pediatrics, Adolescents).
  • Develop proper therapeutic treatment plan of care and anticipated outcome for each patient in accordance with a written and signed Physician's order or prescription as appropriate to the ages of the patients growth and development through the life cycle factors (Neonates, Pediatrics, Adolescents).
  • Perform treatment plan of care through use of various therapeutic exercise programs, positioning and facilitation techniques, gait training, rehabilitation techniques, patient/parent/caregiver education and training and orders adaptive equipment to assist patients in reaching their maximum performance levels and achieve outcomes as appropriate to the ages of the patients growth and development through the life cycle factors (Neonates, Pediatrics, Adolescents).
  • Document initial assessments, reassessments and progress notes and discharge summaries for each patient in accordance with established department policy and procedure.
  • Ensure all treatments/procedures/protocols are performed based on established standards; demonstrate competency in performing all treatments/procedures/protocols and use of equipment within the scope of physical therapy practice as appropriate to the ages of the patients, their growth and development through the life cycle, and with an understanding of the range of treatment needed by these patients.
Requirements
  • Requires a Bachelors, Masters degree or DPT, graduate of an entry level masters or doctorate program in Physical Therapy from a college or university accredited by Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE).
  • Requires a current New Jersey State license and registration in Physical Therapy or eligibility.
  • Previous experience preferred; especially in Pediatric Rehabilitation.
  • Requires analytical ability, use of independent judgment and sufficient interpersonal and communication skills for interaction with patients, parents, caregivers, students, therapists and other health care professionals.
  • NDT certification preferred but not necessary.
  • BLS Certification required, as approved by the American Heart Association.

Salary Range:65.00 - 65.00 USD

We offer competitive base rates that are determined by many factors, including job-related work experience, internal equity, and industry-specific market data. In addition to base salary, some positions may be eligible for clinical certification pay and shift differentials.

The salary range listed for exempt positions reflects full-time compensation and will be prorated based on employment status.
