Qualifications

  • Experience treating pediatric clients.
  • Ability to supervise PT Students, PT Assistants, and PT Technicians per state regulations and clinic policies.

Job Summary

The Pediatric Physical Therapist at the Faschini Wallach Center for Restorative Therapies at Old Dominion University provides comprehensive evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation services to support optimal patient recovery and function. Working under the supervision of the Clinic Director, the Physical Therapist develops and implements individualized plans of care and collaborates with an interdisciplinary team to ensure high‑quality, evidence‑based clinical care to children, youth, and some adult clients. This role requires professional judgment, effective communication with clients, their families, and healthcare partners, and a commitment to maintaining current clinical competencies and compliance with all institutional and regulatory standards.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Doctoral or master’s degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited college or university.
  • Current or eligible for licensure as a Physical Therapist in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current standards of physical therapy practice, including evaluation, treatment planning, and documentation.
  • Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Experience treating pediatric clients.
  • Ability to supervise Physical Therapy Students, Physical Therapy Assistants, and Physical Therapy Technicians in accordance with state regulations and clinic policies.
  • Commitment to ethical, patient‑centered care and professional development.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two or more years of experience in an outpatient rehabilitation providing intervention for children and youth.
  • Experience with electronic medical record (EMR) systems and documentation best practices.
  • Experience in clinical teaching and mentoring of students or support personnel.
  • Evidence of continuing education and engagement in professional activities.
  • Familiarity with program development, quality improvement, and interdisciplinary collaboration within a university‑affiliated clinic.
  • Ability to network, market, and collaborate with local pediatric physicians, community sponsors, and adaptive/assistive vendors to promote opportunities for more advanced team‑oriented care.
Conditions of Employment
  • Licensure: The candidate must hold and maintain current, active licensure (or eligibility for licensure) in Virginia.
  • Credential Verification: Employment is contingent upon successful verification of academic credentials, professional licensure, and eligibility to practice in the state.
  • Background Check: Appointment is subject to a satisfactory criminal background check and verification of work authorization in accordance with University policy.
  • Health and Safety Compliance: The candidate must comply with all University and clinical site requirements related to health and safety, including immunizations, infection control training, and HIPAA compliance.

  • Work Schedule: This position requires direct patient care in the Center. Hours can be flexible and will be discussed upon employment.
