Job summary

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited perfusion program is required.
• Master's degree in perfusion or related field strongly preferred, or a Bachelor of Science with 3+ years of clinical perfusion experience.
• Pediatric perfusion experience preferred.
• ABCP certification or board eligibility (new graduates).
• North Carolina Perfusion License or Provisional License required prior to employment.
• Validated for Basic Life Support and regulatory requirements within probationary period.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive pediatric/perfusion support for congenital heart disease.
• Participate in inter-hospital transport of pediatric ECLS patients.
• Engage in clinical and laboratory research, and contribute to innovation in pediatric perfusion.
• Collaborate on advancement projects such as STAR perfusion technique and On-Table Reanimation (OTR) for DCD heart procurement.

As clinical volume and programmatic complexity continue to expand, Duke is seeking an exceptional Pediatric Perfusionist to become the eighth member of its highly collaborative, nationally recognized team.

This is an opportunity for a talented perfusionist to practice at the highest level within a sophisticated pediatric and congenital cardiac program.

Duke pediatric perfusionists provide comprehensive perfusion support across the full spectrum of congenital heart disease and play integral roles in the program's advanced pediatric VAD and ECMO services, including inter-hospital transport of pediatric ECLS patients.

Beyond clinical practice, the team is actively engaged in clinical and laboratory research, innovation, and the advancement of pediatric perfusion. Recent areas of collaboration and innovation include development of the STAR perfusion technique and On-Table Reanimation (OTR) for DCD heart procurement.

Education

The ideal candidate will be an accomplished pediatric perfusionist-or an exceptionally strong emerging perfusionist-with:

• Graduation from an accredited perfusion program is required.
• Master's degree in perfusion or related scientific field or allied health specialty is strongly preferred or a Bachelor of Science degree with 3+ years of clinical perfusion experience.

Experience

• Pediatric perfusion experience preferred.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, a collaborative approach and commitment to multidisciplinary patient care and demonstrated interest in professional growth, research, innovation, and advancing pediatric perfusion also preferred.

Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification

• ABCP certification or board eligibility (new graduates).
• North Carolina Perfusion License or Provisional License (new graduates) required prior to employment.
• Validated for Basic Life Support and successfully complete all regulatory requirements within the probationary period.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Exposure to hazardous waste and infectious materials.
• Physical abilities to complete job duties and responsibilities under prescribed environmental and working conditions.
