Job summary

Inova Children’s is seeking a Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) to join a growing program at Northern Virginia’s premier children’s hospital. This full-time role offers a sign-on bonus, relocation assistance, and a comprehensive incentive plan within a nationally recognized pediatric health system.

The APP will contribute to spine, limb, trauma, and multi-specialty care across pediatric orthopedics, including early-onset scoliosis and minimally invasive procedures.

Qualifications

• BLS, ACLS, and PALS required at start
• Licensed Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner in Virginia; if NP: RN compact license and NP/PA license in Virginia, plus scope of practice/protocol and DEA license if prescribing
• New graduate considered
• Ability to successfully complete payer credentialing with CMS/Medicare/Medicaid
• Medical staff credentialing completed for privileges to perform required services

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, treat, and manage muscle, skeletal, or bone conditions.
• Participate in call and trauma surgical management.
• Order or perform medical diagnostic or clinical tests.
• Write routine orders for lab studies, x-rays, and consultations.
• Perform and record history and physical examinations.
• Evaluate treatment options and develop individualized treatment plans.
• Perform surgical or noninvasive procedures and create postoperative-care plans

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and Master's Degree in Advanced Clinical Practice or graduate of a post-masters certificate program for NP, or equivalent

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a nationally recognized children’s health system and contribute to the continued expansion of comprehensive pediatric specialty care throughout Northern Virginia. This full-time position is eligible for a sign-on bonus and relocation assistance.

Our group is expanding to nine physicians, creating an opportunity to help shape the division's clinical identity and subspecialty depth. The group provides comprehensive pediatric orthopedic care across spine and spinal deformity, limb deformity and reconstruction, orthopedic trauma, cerebral palsy and neuro-orthopedics, hand and upper extremity, sports medicine, and foot and ankle. Treatment capabilities include early-onset scoliosis management with casting and MAGEC rods, minimally invasive orthopedic surgery, and pre-participation examinations for young athletes.

Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) Minimum Requirements

• Certification - Basic Life Support upon start; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (for Critical Care) upon start; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (for Pediatrics) upon start
• Licensure - Licensed Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner; If Nurse Practitioner: RN Compact License(depending on State of primary residence) AND a license (or eligibility for) as a nurse practitioner or physician assistant in the Commonwealth of Virginia AND a "Practice Agreement" signed by sponsoring/ supervising physician(s), AND a written "Scope of Practice/Protocol" signed by the supervising physician, AND "Drug Enforcement Administration License" (if prescribing controlled substances)
• Experience - No prior experience required; New graduate considered
• Education - For Nurse Practitioners: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and Master's Degree in Advanced Clinical Practice or graduate of a post-masters certificate program for nurse practitioners, OR certificate from an education program that is accredited by the Council of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs/Schools, American Association of Colleges of Nursing of the National League for Nursing; For Physician Assistants: Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
• Payer Credentialing - Ability to successfully complete the credentialing process by third-party payors and Ability to enrolled as a CMS Medicare/Medicaid payor
• Medical Staff Credentialing - Successful completion of credentialing for Medical Staff membership and appropriate clinical privileges sufficient to perform all required services

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience: 1-2 years APP experience in pediatric orthopedics
