Job summary

Connecticut Children’s Medical Center in Farmington, CT, is seeking an Ophthalmology Technician for a part-time, on-site role. You will work directly with patients, parents and doctors, performing pre-examination eye function tests and preparing patients for the physician visit.

You will help manage patient flow, sterilize instruments, coordinate with front desk, and maintain clean exam spaces, while upholding HIPAA standards and compassionate care for children and families.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience: 1 year as Ophthalmic Assistant/Technician preferred.
• Certification: JCAHPO preferred or to be acquired within 12–24 months of hire.
• CPR (BLS) preferred at time of hire or within 1 month.
• Ability to work with pediatric patients and families.

Responsibilities

• Primary testing of eye functions to prepare patients for physician visits.
• Obtain patient history including chief complaint and medications.
• Manage patient flow and triage walk-in or urgent cases.
• Sterilize instruments and maintain optical equipment per guidelines.
• Coordinate with front desk and maintain clean waiting/ exam areas.
• Prepare Rx, send records, and document communications in EMR.
