Job summary

Miami Children’s Hospital is seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to evaluate, re-evaluate, and develop plans of care for pediatric patients in accordance with department policies and preferred practice patterns.

You will participate in multidisciplinary rounds, document progress, and collaborate with families to discharge planning and home programs. The role requires active license in Florida and BLS certification, with ongoing CEUs to maintain licensure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy is required.
• Florida OT license (Professional or Provisional) required.
• AHA BLS certification required and must be maintained.
• Background screening: Level II fingerprinting and Good Moral Character affidavit initiated within 15 days and finalized within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Participates in interdisciplinary/multidisciplinary meetings related to patient care.
• Maintains productivity and documents daily patient activities, statistics, and charges.
• Records patient documentation accurately and timely per department standards.
• Works to improve access to care for patients served.
• Performs evaluations and provides recommendations based on findings.
• Maintains effective communication with patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals.
• Develops plans of care with deficits, activity restrictions, and measurable goals.
• Provides treatments based on medical, clinical, and observational findings.
• Initiates discharge planning at evaluation based on maximum potential.
• Follows TRAAC and prepares patient/family for discharge when appropriate.
• Provides in-service training and demonstrates evidence-based practices, plus peer review participation.
• Maintains ongoing CEUs for licensure and clinical excellence.
