Job Highlights:
We are seeking a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) who specializes in the healthcare of infants, children, and adolescents to provide care on a Mobile Health Unit deployed in rural and underserved areas of the state to provide access to pediatric care. This PNP will combine clinical expertise in pediatrics to diagnose and treat illnesses and promote health. The PNP will conduct comprehensive health assessments and interpret various diagnostic tests. The PNP will develop, manage, and prescribe treatment plans, inclusive of medications, and provide patient and family education. The PNP will collaborate closely with pediatricians, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure patient-centered care.
Compensation:
Pay Range: $77,640 - $126,170

Work Schedule:
Full-time, benefited
Day shift: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm
No weekends or holidays.
Call will be required.
Job Description:
To provide medical care and treatment within established scope of nursing practice to pediatric patients as assigned by and under the direction of the collaborating physician (Section 610-X-9 of the Alabama Board of Nursing Administrative Code). The collaborating physician shall be available for direct communication for consultation and referral or arrange for the same medical coverage by a physician who is pre- approved by the State Board of Medical Examiners in the same manner as the collaborating physician of record. To coordinate plan of care, discharge and specialty referrals as appropriate to meet the age specific needs of the pediatric patient. To plan and coordinate health care education for pediatric patient, family and other health care providers as needed. To perform comprehensive physical examinations and assessments. To interpret, analyze and evaluate patient s medical record and social data. To perform and/or assist the physician with procedures per collaborative agreement. To coordinate and participate in performance improvement activities. To travel and work up to 100% of the time in the mobile health unit service areas.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Based on thorough physical and psychosocial patient assessments, formulates and implements comprehensive pediatric patient care plans focused on prevention, diagnosis and comprehensive treatment of disease. Plans include patient and family education, prescriptions, additional lab and diagnostic testing, and therapies.
- Ensures complete documentation of pediatric patient assessments, patient care plans, and care provided.
- Orders and interprets laboratory and other diagnostic tests for the pediatric patient.
- Maintains records and reports as required by regulatory agencies. May coordinate and/or participate in performance and quality improvement activities.
- May assist in the coordination of research protocols, serving as a patient advocate and a liaison between the patient and other health care providers.
- Provides assistance in orientation and/or training of new nursing personnel as needed. Provides educational information by conducting workshops, in-service training and distributing appropriate materials for patients and staff.
- Serves as the expert clinical resource to the nursing staff and patients in the area of specialty.
- Provides a safe environment for patients and others.
- Demonstrates a responsible attitude toward continued professional growth. Perform other duties as assigned.
Master's Degree in Nursing with a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner specialty and three (3) year of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for degree requirement. Currently certified as an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) with Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) Specialty by the Alabama Board of Nursing required. Currently certified as an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) with Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) Specialty by the Alabama Board of Nursing required. Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required or should be obtained within 30 days of employment. Depending on the unit/department, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) may be required.
