Job summary

Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock is seeking a Pediatric APRN to support the ED with advanced clinical practice. The role requires autonomous practice within a collaborative setting to assess, diagnose, and treat pediatric patients and their families.

The APRN will gather histories, perform comprehensive exams, develop plans of care, and participate in quality improvement efforts while aligning with AC values of safety, teamwork, compassion and excellence.

Qualifications

• APRN with autonomous clinical practice in pediatrics.
• Experience in acute and critical pediatric care.
• Ability to perform comprehensive health assessments.

Responsibilities

• Gathers information for new and established patients (history, tests, exams).
• Assesses patient/family physical, psychosocial, educational needs.
• Interprets health data to direct patient care.
• Provides ongoing care with pharmacologic and diagnostic treatments and education.
• Documents plan of care and health data per policy.
• Completes billing codes (ICD-9, CPT) per laws and AC policy.
• Communicates with referring physicians and hospital staff.
• Participates in quality improvement initiatives.
• Disseminates relevant research findings.
• Participates in AC and national nursing organizations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Possesses an advanced knowledge level, skill, and competence in the provision of care to specific patient and family populations and serves across the AC care continuum as a clinical resource. The APRN practices autonomously in a collaborative practice setting with a physician.

Description

1. Gathers information for both new and established patients such as medical history, diagnostic tests, comprehensive physical examination, behavioral, development and psychosocial assessments.

2. Assessments and identifies patient/family physical, psychosocial, educational, and cultural needs for assigned patient population.

3. Accurately interprets health assessment data and applies findings in directing patient care.

4. Provides ongoing and follow-up care including appropriate pharmacologic and diagnostic treatments and patient/family education.

5. Documents all health data including plan of care and care according to policy, patient/family outcomes, and reassessments and plan modifications.

6. Accurately completes all billing forms, including diagnostic (ICD-9) and treatment (CPT) codes, based on federal and state laws and AC policy.

7. Communicates with referring physicians, health providers, and hospital staff as appropriate.

8. Actively participates in quality improvement activities and the development strategies to improve patient care delivery and cost effectiveness.

9. Disseminates relevant research findings through practice, publication, education, and/or consultation.

10. Participates in AC, local and national professional nursing organizations as appropriate to maintain and share expertise.

11. Performs other duties as assigned.
