Job Description: Pediatric Nurse Practitioner

Location: Middletown and Franklin, OH

Centerpoint Health is a Federally Qualified Health Center. We have locations in Franklin, Middletown and Norwood, OH. We provide services in primary health care, ob-gyn, pharmacy and behavioral health.

Position/Purpose: Provide primary care services to health center patients with an emphasis on prevention and treatment of disease and with sensitivity to diverse populations.

Primary Job Duties:

  1. Deliver preventive services to patients; complete comprehensive health history and physical examination; perform relevant physical examination including vital signs; perform procedures.
  2. Prescribe, monitor, and administer medication and treatment. Prescribe within formulary guidelines.
  3. Order appropriate lab and other testing as indicated for clinical presentation, including point-of-care testing. Review, interpret, and document results and communicate results.
  4. Initiate or participate in patient care conferences. Provide patients and families with teaching and counseling in the areas of health promotion, maintenance, disease prevention, and the management of acute/chronic diseases.
  5. Initiate, direct, and modify medical care plan. Observe, evaluate, and document condition, behavior, compliance, and response to medication/treatment in the Electronic Medical Record.
  6. Document findings and plan of care accurately and appropriately in the patient's medical record to meet the standards of external parties. Code services appropriately.
  7. Collaborate with external providers and external referrals as appropriate for clinical presentation.
  8. Work with collaborating physician in a standard care arrangement (SCA); update and maintain arrangement as required by the State of Ohio Board of Nursing.
  9. Participate in quality improvement data collection. Provide support for quality improvement plans.
  10. Participate in peer review.
  11. Attend job-related and professional activities, which may involve limited travel within the local area, region, state, or country for professional meetings, networking, training, and conferences.
  12. Perform other functions as assigned by physician, supervisor, CMO, or CEO.

Certifications/Credentials:

Education: Master’s Degree in Nursing required with pediatric certification. Active unrestricted PNP license by the Ohio Board of Nursing. Preference is given to candidates with active Prescriptive Authority in Ohio and DEA registration. CPR certification required.

Experience: Minimum of one year nursing clinical experience required. Experience with patients appropriate to scope. Previous experience as an Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner preferred.

Additional Skills/Qualifications:

  1. Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with patients, families, and health care workers.
  2. Ability to document outcomes and perform clinical scales as indicated.
  3. Ability to understand and maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements and standards, including the scope of practice permitted by the State of Ohio Board of Nursing.
  4. Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office. Familiarity with Electronic Medical Records required.
  5. Familiarity with review and use of evidence-based practices.
  6. Ability to spend significant time standing. Ability to use equipment required for the delivery of services.

Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure: Category I

This position is contingent upon successful credentialing, health requirements, background check and drug test.
