University of Iowa Health Care, Department of Nursing, seeks a Nurse Clinician to serve as a clinical expert and care coordinator for a pediatric population, interfacing with nurses, physicians, and families under the supervision of the Nurse Manager.

The role emphasizes independent care coordination across settings, development of care plans, patient education, and participation in quality and regulatory initiatives.

Qualifications

• Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is required.
• Current license to practice nursing in Iowa is required.
• 2 years of nursing experience.
• Evidence of strong clinical problem solving and critical thinking.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with nursing, medical staff and other health professionals in planning and evaluating care.
• Coordinates patient care between disciplines and community providers.
• Provides leadership for direct patient care programs in area of specialization.
• Communicates with referring physicians and coordinates discharge and follow-up.
• Implements patient/family education activities and participates in quality improvement.
