Job description

Emory University is a leading research university that fosters excellence and attracts world-class talent to innovate today and prepare leaders for the future. We welcome candidates who can contribute to the excellence of our academic community.

Description

The Emory University Division of Pediatric Nephrology is seeking to hire our 16th BC/BE pediatric nephrologist to join our very collegial group of pediatric nephrologists. This position is predominantly clinical, although there are many opportunities to engage in quality improvement, clinical research, and education.

Division of Pediatric Nephrology

Our division is very active clinically. We average 25-30 pediatric kidney transplants per year and follow more than 200 kidney transplant recipients. We follow 40-50 chronic pediatric dialysis patients. We have dedicated clinics for kidney transplantation, peritoneal dialysis, hypertension, transition of kidney transplant patients, lupus, and chronic kidney disease. Our ACGME accredited fellowship program was founded in 2007 and we currently have six superb fellows. Since 2006, our program has grown from two faculty and one APP to 16 faculty, eight APPs and six fellows. Our outstanding faculty hold leadership positions in ASPN, AAP, AST, CKiD, IROC, OPTN, and CureGN. https://www.choa.org/medical-services/nephrology

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta

The fellowship program is funded by Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, our non-profit children’s hospital. Children’s has expanded our North Druid Hills campus. The centerpiece of this 70-acre campus is Arthur M. Blank Hospital, a 19-story, 2-million-square-foot facility. Thoughtfully designed from the ground up with input from all stakeholders, including clinicians and patients, this is more than just a building. It is a giant leap forward in our ongoing effort to deliver cutting-edge care, improve outcomes and innovate to meet the healthcare challenges of tomorrow. The new hospital includes a dedicated transplant clinic and a dialysis unit.

Academic Opportunities

We have a diverse research portfolio including Federal, Industry, and Foundation support. There are excellent opportunities for clinical research utilizing our Pediatric Research Center within Children’s. There are cores for processing and storage of patient samples, grant writing, and statistical support. Our division has over 40 IRB approved protocols and five full-time research coordinators; it is one of the most active pediatric nephrology clinical research programs in the United States. There is also institutional support for informatics, quality improvement, and educational scholarship.

Atlanta

Atlanta is a vibrant and diverse city with excellent entertainment, dining and sports activities. A transportation hub and home to many major corporations, Atlanta offers mild weather and affordable housing when compared to many other cities.
