Job summary

Southeast Georgia Health System Inc. is seeking a Medical Support Assistant for SGPA, Pediatrics in Camden. This on-site, full-time role supports patient flow, registers patients, assists with exams and procedures, and helps the clinical team with nursing assessments.

Candidates must have a high school diploma, healthcare experience preferred, and Medical Assistant certification or EMT, plus BLS within the first week of orientation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Healthcare experience preferred.
• Medical Assistant Certification or EMT required.
• American Heart Association BLS certification within first week of orientation.

Responsibilities

• Effectively manages the care of assigned patients using knowledge, clinical skills, judgment and decision making skills for the specific area.
• Delivers patient care utilizing guidelines of care and appropriate resources, including personnel, services, supplies and equipment in a fiscally responsible manner to include an active role in capturing patient charges.
• Reviews, evaluates and takes appropriate action regarding results of diagnostic tests. Administers medications according to Health System policy.
• Assist with patient flow by registering patients and assisting with other patient care duties as needed.
• Assists other healthcare professionals in performing exams, diagnostic procedures and treatments, and minor medical procedures. Communicates provider advice/instructions.
• Assists the clinical team in performing the nursing assessment to identify and prioritise physical, psychosocial and cultural needs in order to develop a plan of care.
