Job summary

University Health Truman Medical Center in Kansas City, MO, is seeking a Medical Assistant (MA) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for a Pediatric Clinic. This full-time position, 9:00AM - 5:30PM, 40 hours/week, involves direct patient care in a fast-paced setting alongside providers and teammates.

You will prep charts, take vitals, administer meds and immunizations, assist with minor procedures, maintain EMR records, and educate patients on plans and follow‑ups.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent and Graduate of an Accredited Medical Assistant Program.
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, NRCMA, or CCMA) – Required at time of hire and maintained.
• Current BLS Certification (or ability to obtain before starting).
• Knowledge of POCT, Immunizations, and Injections – you’ll be giving shots like a pro!
• Strong problem-solving skills; you think on your feet and adapt quickly.
• Excellent organization & time management; you keep things running smoothly.
• Customer service rockstar; patients feel cared for.
• Tech-savvy; comfortable with Microsoft applications and EMR systems.
• Radiology Certification (if applicable) – for potential X-ray functions.

Responsibilities

• Getting Patients Ready to Shine – Prep charts, check vitals, and set the stage for great care.
• Hands-On Clinical Work – Administer meds, immunizations, collect specimens, and assist with minor procedures.
• Tech Savvy & Detail-Oriented – Maintain up-to-date patient records in EMR.
• Team Player Extraordinaire – Support providers, participate in team huddles, help run the clinic smoothly.
• Patient Educator – Help patients understand treatment plans and follow-up care.
