Seeking Pediatric Intensivist to Join Established PICU in Alexandria, LA!

Envision Physician Services is seeking a board-eligible or board-certified Pediatric Intensivist to join our collaborative care team providing PICU services at Rapides Women's & Children's Hospital (RWCH). RWCH features a 6-bed Level II PICU and a 19-bed Pediatric floor. The ideal candidate is passionate about caring for pediatric inpatient and critical care patients and enjoys teaching family practice residents and RN/RT/NP teams. Strong communication skills, teamwork, and a focus on quality care are essential in this role.

Opportunity Details:

• Staffing Model: 2 Pediatric Intensivists, 2 Pediatric Nurse Practitioners
• PNPs on during the day include:
• H&Ps, progress notes, discharge summaries
• Procedures such as intubations, lumbar punctures, line and chest tube placements, CPR
• Round and deliver care during the day
• Take call from home at night (30-minute response time)
• Schedule: week on/off, call from home
• Coverage includes:
• Inpatient Pediatric floor
• Pediatric Intensive Care Unit
• Pediatric Sedation Services
• No ECMO or post-op hearts
• Rapides 2024 Census Data:
• Pediatric Admissions: 550
• Pediatric ADC: 6
• PICU Admissions: 250-300
• PICU ADC: 3
• Pediatric Subspecialists include:
• Cardiology, Pulmonology, GI
• Monthly subspecialty clinics (1-2 times per month)

Facility Information: Rapides Women's & Children's Hospital hosts the area's largest pediatric ICU, staffed by pediatric intensivists and acute-care trained pediatric Nurse Practitioners, providing high-level care promptly.

A hospitalist service is available to coordinate inpatient care and communicate with families, ensuring seamless transitions from outpatient to inpatient care.

The hospital also offers non-invasive conscious sedation performed by pediatric intensivists for extensive testing needs.
