Responsibilities

• Provide high level clinical services to pediatric ICU patients and manage care plans.

• Collaborate with nurses, pharmacists, and other specialists across teams.
• Share in the on-call schedule as assigned.

Job description

Nemours Children’s Hospital in Orlando, Florida is seeking per diem or casual Pediatric Intensivist to join our dynamic and innovative team.

The position is primarily a clinical position related to the diagnosis, treatment, and clinical management of pediatric critical care patients in a multidisciplinary environment that includes physicians, nurses, advanced practice providers, pharmacists, respiratory therapists, dieticians, and social workers. The position offers exposure to a variety of high acuity pediatric critical care patients. The position also requires teaching/supervision of medical students and residents. In addition, the position will provide opportunities to participate in Quality Improvement, research, and publishing.

Job Specific Duties

• Applies knowledge of growth and development in customer interactions and treatment.
• Continues to actively self-educate (i.e., reading journals, CME credits, NCH conferences, etc.).
• Coordinates and/or develops and delivers monthly in‑services to meet staff and resident development needs.
• Directly provides high level clinical services to patients including, but not limited to: performing and recording history and physical examinations, recording and interpreting pertinent patient data, developing and documenting a treatment plan, writing routine orders for appropriate laboratory studies, x‑rays and consultations, performing patient/parent teaching, assisting with patient follow‑up, performing appropriate screenings, administering medications as required, ordering and/or performing therapeutic and diagnostic procedures as indicated by patient findings.
• Makes suggestions to Department Chief and/or attending staff that may be beneficial to the improvement of the department.
• Required to participate in Quality Improvement, Research and Publishing.
• Required to participate in teaching of and is role model to medical students and residents.
• Required to participate in the call schedule as assigned.

Qualifications

• Medical Degree (MD or DO) from an accredited medical school or foreign equivalent
• Board certified or board eligible in pediatrics and critical care medicine
• Valid state medical license & DEA
