Job summary

Carle Health is seeking a Registered Nurse for our Pediatric Inpatient/Outpatient Infusion Unit. The role encompasses caring for patients from newborns to adults, administering infusions, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

The position requires Illinois RN licensure, BLS/PALS within specified timeframes, and relevant work experience. A college nursing diploma is required; comprehensive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Must hold RN license in Illinois (IDFPR).
• National Nursing Certification within 3 years (varies).
• PALS within 1 year (AHA).
• BLS within 30 days (AHA).
• College Diploma: Nursing.
• Relevant work experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform all responsibilities and duties required by unit as specific to the scope of service.
• Implement procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice.
• Maintain up‑to‑date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to assure the integration of information for use by the healthcare team.
• Complete initial assessment upon patient admission and develop an appropriate plan of care in accordance with unit standards and that is based on patient and family needs.
• Implement plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures.
• Modify plan of care based upon continuous evaluation.
• Take responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and/or correcting safety hazards and incidents.
• Communicate with others directly and in private when necessary to resolve issues.
• Offer constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers, and confer with colleagues to expand knowledge base.
• Identify own learning needs and take initiative to begin an appropriate solution.
• Fulfill all requirements of departmental competencies.
• Monitor intake and output of all pediatric patient assignments.
• Change dressings, insert catheters, start IVs, administer medications using proper bar code scanning.
• Notify appropriate provider with high‑alert lab results.
• Serve as a mandated reporter for all suspected abuse/neglect cases.
