Qualifications

• BSN degree from an accredited program.
• Current RN licensure in the state.
• BLS certification through AHA or Red Cross.
• ACLS certification required for Critical Care area upon hire or within first year.
• At least 3 years of clinical nursing experience, including 1 year in healthcare management.
• High degree of clinical expertise in the specialty area.
• Demonstrated leadership, management, communication, problem solving, decision making, conflict resolution and group process skills

Responsibilities

• Manage practice of professional nursing and delivery of nurse care on assigned unit.
• Establish clinical direction for nursing care delivery, provide clinical supervision and maintain quality outcomes.
• Collaborate with liaison departments to maintain patient care standards, identify and resolve issues affecting delivery of patient care services.
• Develop quality initiatives and implement policies and procedures for efficient and effective delivery of health services.
• Develop and maintain unit-related patient care standards through continuous quality improvement.
• Maintain JCAHO and other regulatory standards.
• Manage operation of unit.
• Analyze personnel structure and determine staffing needs and mix.
• Provide direction and supervision, evaluate performance, conduct selection and termination processes, and develop strategic plans.
• Actively promote staff and self-development.
• Participate in clinical nursing research and support foundation research activities.
• Direct unit participation in evaluation of new products.
• Approve purchases and establish or revise inventory quotes.
• Assist in the development and monitoring of the budget.
• Other duties as assigned.
